BENEDETTA SICILIA

As a very shy child, doing ballet was the ideal way for Benedetta to express her inner world. She started at age 4 in a private ballet school, Proscaenium in the town of Gallarate in the north of Italy where she was born. At age 12 she entered the La Scala Ballet School in Milan where she spent a year. As she says ‘thanks to Covid’ the opportunity arose for her to join the European School of Ballet; her four years there helped enhance her movement quality, learn about her own physicality and character.

Benedetta: “Joining Junior Ballet Antwerp I feel sure, will help me bloom as an artist. It’s a healing place to be as you are helped to develop as an individual without judgement. Another reason is because of the unique repertoire, which is a reflection of what i dream of performing. David Dawson’s work for example with its unique lines and expression!”

With no outstanding companies to aspire to in the future, Benedetta hopes to be accepted into one which will offer her an artistic match. In the meantime aside from her love of dance, she enjoys studying & reading & has a special interest in poetry, music and art.
