FLASH #20 – A NEW CHAPTER
JBA is turning the page and starting a new chapter, one in which we will strive as always to build, to invent and to create. In short, to surprise and delight you as we have always done, with the power and beauty of ballet as demonstrated by our talented young artists.
We have a host of very promising youngsters this year – this is the largest JBA group, no less than 20 in total on the program since our very beginning. And as we mentioned in the last Flash, for this reason there is an urgent need to increase our the rehearsal floor.
To give these talents the chance to develop and grow, we have planned a season which will allow them plenty of opportunity.
During the first week of November we launch a first – Junior Ballet Antwerp goes on tour throughout Flanders with it’s proven and acclaimed production of JAMES. This multi-disciplinary work by Mauro de Candia is filled with dance, music & theater and is art based on the eccentric genius of James Ensor. JAMES is coming your way, to a theater near to you!

Join us for a stylish, culinary event filled with dance, artistry and emotion! It has become a tradition to organize a Fundraising Gala Diner Event in support of Junior Ballet Antwerp. The chosen location for our 2024 edition: The Art Nouveau room HORTA. More information underneath.
In the meantime our dancers will commence rehearsals for the exciting, thought-provoking triple bill FURORE which we will present in the Antwerp Opera on 27&28 February 2025 with the production travelling to Knokke-Heist and Alsemberg as well.
The three choreographers assembling to create FURORE are; Internationally-acclaimed dancemaker and resident choreographer with the Boston Ballet Jorma Elo, JBA’s own, in-house dance creator Altea Nuñez and from Rome, Italy, rising new talent Francesco Annarumma.
Certainly a not-to-be missed evening full of severity and inspiration!
And we end the season on another high point.
Our beautiful CINDERELLA with choreography by JBA’s leaders Altea Nuñez & Alain Honorez is returning on May 30&31 and June 1 2025, only this time to the different surroundings of a theater, hetpaleis in Antwerp.
Entirely re-imagined, this more theatrical version will be no less stunning then its original and will have the advantage of bringing the characters intimately to life, touching the heart in the manner of a true fairy tale. The glorious projection and inventive lighting, lovely music and naturally, equally fine dancing will together enchant audiences young and old.
FUNDRAISING GALA DINNER EVENT 2024 @ ART NOUVEAU ZAAL HORTA
Experience the magic of Junior Ballet Antwerp at an exclusive Fundraising gala dinner event. Indulge all your senses with a scrumptious dinner with beautiful interludes by our 20 young talented JBA dancers. In the Art Nouveau room Horta – an architectural masterpiece – we will festively kick off the end of the year and raffle off some fine Christmas gifts.
