As the summer break draws closer, the studio doors will finally shut for a few weeks and all at JBA will be heading off on well-deserved vacations. We can now take stock as we look back proudly and with satisfaction on season 24/25, saying with all honesty that it was the most successful to date.
Commencing with a Belgian tour of our acclaimed Ensor production JAMES in the autumn of 2024, during which rehearsals for FURORE began in earnest; This dazzling triple bill premiered in the Antwerp Opera last February to a major success before blowing away audiences when it played in theaters outside of our home city as well.
Then came CINDERELLA: finally translated beautifully to the theatre, with full houses during performances in Antwerp. The ballet, with its sumptuous decor, dreamlike lighting and colourful costumes, drew the attention of programming directors theatres in and around Flanders. As a result JBA’s first full-length ballet CINDERELLA will go on tour in the country in 2026.
So if you missed seeing it, be sure to keep an eye open on our website for all touring dates!
As is always the case at the close of each JBA year, several of our young artists will be leaving us. With contracts in hand for companies around Europe, they will now commence careers as fully-fledged professionals. We loved seeing them develop and mature in their time with us; we wish them every success and will follow their futures with pride.
Their places will be filled by fresh talent, mostly chosen during the JBA auditions in April, when they will begin their journey with us come August 2025.
There is much to look forward to during our upcoming 25/26 season; exciting new and returning productions, collaborations as well as unique events which will firmly put the stamp on our young company as it goes from strength to strength.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you again very soon but for now; happy holidays!
