Ana Romero Jiménez
Spanish-born Ana hails from Granada, Spain. She began rhythmic gymnastics at 4 years old, before taking her first ballet classes a year later. At 8, she entered the Dance Conservatory in Granada. Her training journey led her to the European School of Ballet’s summer intensive, where she was invited to spend a trimester in Amsterdam. Following this, she completed her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Madrid (Mariemma), spending her final two years there.
Ana: “I wanted to join JBA because I was drawn to the program by its wide variety of styles and choreography. It allows me to discover which direction I want to pursue during my career as a dancer. At JBA, mistakes are not seen as failures but as opportunities to grow, since the challenges I encounter each day help me learn more about myself while adapting quickly to new roles and situations.”
Although she does not have a specific company in mind for the future, Ana hopes to build her career in an inspiring environment. One of her greatest wishes is to one day return to Granada to perform at the Generalife Theater.
She especially loves Manon, choreographed by Kenneth MacMillan, and counts Jiří Kylián, David Dawson, and Goyo Montero among her favorite choreographers. In her directly work with Montero on ‘Dürer’s Dog’, she came to understand that through precision and the expressive power of movement, emotion and depth find their voice — and we remember why we truly dance.
In her free time, she enjoys sports, has a passion for cooking, and is currently studying psychology through an online university course.
