Elena Stefanetti
Elena hails from Lugano, withSwiss/Italian nationality, started dancing at a young age and then switched to rhythmic gymnastics. Deciding that her passion was really for dance, she returned to her local private ballet school before spending 4 years at the Zurich Dance Academy. Graduating at 17 made her aware of the importance of pursuing greater diversity and maturity in her training, leading her to the Junior Ballet Antwerp, whose smaller, more personal environment would allow her for detailed feedback and focused guidance.
Elena: “I discovered that JBA is dedicated to helping young dancers achieve their goals and that the leaders have enormous commitment in doing this. The high level of supportive training in a smaller environment can be very beneficial to a dancer’s development. I hope and feel that my time at JBA will make me the best dancer I can be – to become stronger technically and more versatile in many styles of dance. With their help, I am motivated to embrace every opportunity to improve.”
As for future dreams, Elena is inspired by the repertoire of four companies in Europe: Dutch National Ballet, English National Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin and Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich.
At the top of the list of choreographers she admires David Dawson, Wayne McGregor, Crystal Pite and William Forsythe with a favorite work by the latter: BLAKE WORKS, an explosion of movement and energy.
Apart from dance, Elena enjoys painting and reading, as well as dedicating herself to high school studies, in order to help develop her range of knowledge.
