HALLE MCGREGOR
With Australian nationality, Halle was born in the town of Newcastle, Australia where she also grew up. As the only girl in a family of male siblings, her mother wished for her daughter to have a very feminine hobby and so Halle, joined children’s ballet classes at the age of 4. With plenty of talent up the sleeve she joined the National College of Dance at the age of 15 and there she spent several years. Accepted as a candidate for the prestigious Prix de Lausanne in 2022, she was noticed and offered a scholarship with the English National Ballet School where she studied for one year prior to joining JBA.
Halle: “I had my eyes set on Junior Ballet Antwerp, having seen that the program has a reputation for the standard of dancers they produce. JBA dancers are encouraged to be unique to themselves and to ‘expand their strengths’ while being helped personally with weaker issues. This was enhanced after my JBA audition and left me inspired. I hope and feel sure that I will be pushed and challenged in all aspects of dance, artistically and technically.”
After JBA, Halle is aiming to join a professional company in Europe with the top 3 being Opera National du Rhin, Zurich Ballet, and Dresden Semperoper Ballet.
Like many other JBA fellow-juniors, she admires choreographers like David Dawson, Juliano Nunez and William Forsythe although her favourite ballet of all is ‘Concerto’ by Sir Kenneth Macmillan, a challenging work set to the beautiful Shostakovich score.
Halle is a level-headed young woman, as she realises that a dancer’s career is a short one and although she has done some modeling in the past, she would set her mind to studying health and nutrition in the future.
