LUDOVICO GALLO

Ludovico’s roots spring from diverse nationalities – he himself is Italian, born in the city of Messina, his mother is Swiss and father Italo-Brazilian what makes this multi-cultural background play a major part in his artistic heritage. When only 3 years old, after watching a ballet, Ludo pleaded with his mother to let him dance which he did starting at a local dance school for 9 years. Switching to another dance school; A.S.D.C Dietro le Quinte, gave him more advanced training as well as the good fortune to study with guest master-teachers such as Yannick Boquin, Isabelle Ciaravola and Monique Loudières. During a workshop in 2020, Christiane Marchant suggested to him to join the European School of Ballet in Amsterdam. His experience there made him realise which avenue his dance career should take, also giving him the chance to explore choreography – something he has become passionate about.

Ludovico: “I was interested in joining JBA because I want to gain stage experience as it is so essential for an emerging dancer/ artist. The repertoire JBA offers also aligns with the genre I aspire to dance.”

Two important present-day choreographers are his icons: William Forsythe and David Dawson. Having differing styles, the intensity of their works and the shapes they create in ballets like ‘Pas/Parts’ (Forsythe) and ‘Anima/Animus’ (Dawson) fascinate him.

Ludo is a multi-faceted young man. Apart from pursuits such as horse-riding and cooking, he is eager to immerse himself in all art forms, activities which will certainly serve him in good stead in his chosen career.
