Isabelle Washbrooke

19 yr old Isabelle Washbrooke was born in Gloucestershire, England.

She started dancing at the age of four and, at 16, went on to train professionally at the Elmhurst Ballet School where she also completed the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.

Following her graduation from EBS, she spent a month with Oregon Ballet Theatre School in the USA.

Isabelle: “I auditioned for the JBA Program because I was attracted by the variety of repertoire and the technical standard and artistry shown by current artists in the JBA published videos.

My audition experience was exceptionally positive. I have never felt so comfortable in a dance environment. I was able to see how the artistic staff interacted with the company members and I knew that, that level of individual care was something I desired for myself.

I hope to increase my confidence; to become a more expressive and expansive dancer and to be motivated and guided in my next steps.”

With no specific dream company in mind, Isabelle would love to work with companies that have eclectic repertoires including classical ballets, such as those by Frederick Ashton, and more contemporary works by creators such as Crystal Pite and Christopher Wheeldon.

In particular she loves the works by Wayne McGregor and JBA-patron David Dawson.

’Manon’ and ‘Romeo & Juliet’ are her favorite ballets because of the emotional depth of the stories and characters. She would love to one day perform those leading roles.

Other than dancing, Isabelle enjoys baking, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.
