Jin Vanholder
Jin was born in Singapore but her nationality is duo Belgian/American.
At the young age of 7 she just loved to dance and begged her parents to let her attend ballet classes. This lead her to join the San Francisco Ballet School where she trained for 10 years. Before joining Junior Ballet Antwerp, Jin also trained at the Dance Training Center in San Francisco.
Jin: “I discovered JBA a few years back and was intrigued about the performing opportunities which the program offered and how it explores a wide variety of choreographic styles. I saw how it enables young dancers to experience and come across aspects of c At JBA, I hope to grow as a dancer and as a person. I expect to be challenged and to learn a great deal by developing new skill sets in a new environment, exploring dance together with colleagues.”
Jin’s two favorite companies are (not surprisingly) San Francisco Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet and she dreams about working with and performing ballets by Jiri Kylian one day.
She names William Forsythe as another favorite choreographer – she loves his ballet ‘Blakeworks I’ and ‘Within the Golden Hour’ by Christopher Wheeldon also tops her list.
Apart from dancing, Jin loves the outdoors, in particular the beauty of the nature in her home state. Her hobbies include playing piano and learning new languages!
